Making delicious salami takes time and dedication

Kotivara is specialised in making tasty salami and other cold smoked products. When making our products we use a traditional method in which salami is cured slowly and with dedication in the soft smoke aroma of alder, cut from the Hailuoto Island from the Gulf of Bothnia.

Depending on the product, the curing of salami or cold smoked meat takes from four to six weeks. This uniquely long curing time gives our salami its soft and delicious taste.

Our product selection includes various kinds of salami and other cold smoked products. Our products are available in almost every food shop in Finland.

Our best known products are the genuine Venäläinen Meetvursti (Russian salami) which we have made for more than 60 years from an original Russian recipe that came to Finland from St. Petersburg. Our Venäläinen Meetvursti is one of the most popular salami brands in Finland. In addition, our products are available in almost all food shops in Sweden.

Kotivara was founded in 1943.

Venäläinen Meetvursti: Russian salami from the original recipe for more than 60 years

In autumn 1950, the sausage specialists of Kotivara got their hands on a recipe for Russian salami which had come to Finland by way of St. Petersburg. The taste proved to be excellent, and manufacturing was started the following year.

The delicious recipe and careful curing in the soft smoke aroma of alder cut from Hailuoto Island have made the product the favourite salami of Finns.

 

Salami without E numbers

Kotivara’s delicious, additive-free salami does not include any E code additives. This type of salami also gets its enjoyable taste from the unique five-week curing in the soft smoke aroma of Hailuoto Island alder.

 

Low-fat Siluetti salami

Siluetti is the lightest salami in Finland. Its fat content is only 2.7%, the same low amount found in high-quality full-meat cold cuts. The great taste of Siluetti salami is created from lean high-quality meat, tasty spices and slow and dedicated curing in the soft smoke aroma of alder.

 

Hyvän Sydämen Meetvursti (Healthy heart salami): high in unsaturated fat

Hyvän Sydämen Meetvursti (Healthy heart salami) has less salt and saturated fat in comparison to other light salami. Half the fat in the product comes from rapeseed oil. Hyvän Sydämen Meetvursti (Healthy heart salami) is high in unsaturated fat.

 

Delicious salami from natural organic ingredients

Kotivara’s organic salami is made from organically produced ingredients. The curing of organic salami takes more than five weeks. This results in strong and savoury salami which suits well for sandwiches and cooking.

 

Original cold cut meat tops off your meal in style

Our product selection includes delicious pork cold cuts, beef cold cuts and reindeer cold cuts. We make our cold cuts with dedication in the soft aroma of alder, cut for the purpose from Hailuoto Island. Because of careful cold smoking, all our cold cut meat products are soft and juicy. Try them on a sandwich or in your favourite recipe!
